Hamilton Boys' High School students got stuck into a hands-on Secondary School Employer Partnership (SSEP) experience with the Transport Education Team at Hamilton City Council recently, linking their classroom learning to real life in their own city...

🚴‍♂️𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: Students explored the Peachgrove Road upgrade plans and shared feedback on how it could improve their safety getting to and from school.

🚴‍♂️𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: They uncovered just how many roles sit within the council (about 180!), with plenty of pathways that don’t require a tertiary qualification.

🚴‍♂️𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱: A ride to Te Ara o Pekapeka Bridge sparked conversations about design, construction, and the people behind it.

🚴‍♂️𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸: From brake adjustments to cable replacements, students picked up practical bike maintenance skills they can use straight away.

🚴‍♂️𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: They finished by helping check 100+ bikes at Bike Day, keeping their peers safe on the road.
